Things to do
Your walk around the tea estates surrounding Uga Ghiri begins on the paths that the plantation communities have walked for generations in these hills. Along the way you will meet tea pickers working and learn about the traditions and daily rhythms of estate life. Small shrines and places of worship can be seen between the tea bushes, testifying to the Hindu beliefs and customs that are still an important part of the community. Your Naturalist will share stories behind these sacred spaces and introduce you to the people and practices that are part of life in the highlands.
The walk follows the natural pace of the plantations, leaving space to notice the details along the way – the sound of leaves moving through the bushes, conversations carried along the paths and the changing views across the valley. A chance to step into the everyday life of Ella’s tea country, this experience reveals the relationship between the land, its people and the traditions that continue to shape this remarkable landscape.
