There is a great deal more to a cup of Ceylon tea than the leaves themselves. This experience, which is included in your stay, takes you into the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country, where you’ll walk through the estate where skilled pickers carefully select the finest leaves using techniques passed down through generations, before heading inside the factory to learn the process that takes tea from leaf to cup. See how patience, time and generations of knowledge all come together to produce every batch of artisanal Ceylon tea, from hand-picking and withering to rolling, drying and grading.
The experience culminates with a guided tasting of specially selected Ceylon teas. Here you will learn about the differences in aroma, flavour and character, and it will tell the story of the land-scapes they came from, allowing you to come away with a deeper understanding of the crafts-manship behind one of Sri Lanka’s most enduring traditions and the communities that continue to keep it alive.
