Experience the Tranquility of Trincomalee Hot Springs

Steeped in lore and myth, the hot springs of Kanniya are located just five miles north-west of Trincomalee and about half a mile off the Anuradhapura Road. Seven hot springs of varying temperatures are found at the site and are considered to contain healing properties.

 

The origins of the hot springs in Trincomalee are deeply rooted in folklore. Numerous tales of its beginnings exist; some believe that Lord Vishnu created the wells for King Ravana to perform the last rites for his allegedly deceased mother Kanniya. Others say that King Ravana himself struck the rock with his sword seven times after which the springs appeared.

 

This mysterious geological wonder has been a place of devotion and of curiosity to devotees and travellers alike.
